The Family Resource Center at City on a Hill provides new household items and other new merchandise from local retailers to families in need in Milwaukee's central city. When parents participate in educational programs and family events on site, they earn points and receive bonus certificates that enable them to shop at no cost in the Family Resource Center. If a family has a crisis, such as a house fire, City on a Hill staff can use the inventory of the Center to replace whole rooms full of household items.
The Center serves three main purposes: 1.) it provides families in need with practical items for their homes, such as dishes and bedding and towels; 2.) it gives parents an incentive to participate in educational programs, and to support their children by attending family events; and 3.) it allows City on a Hill to meet the needs of families in crisis.
