Health Clinic

 

The City on a Hill Health Clinic is staffed by more than 100 volunteers, including doctors, nurses, health educators, dentists, dental hygienists, vision technicians, physician's assistants and social workers. These helping professionals are joined by many other volunteers from a large number of academic institutions, churches and other organizations who have a heart for the poor and a desire to make a difference. The volunteer team provides a wide range of vital services in a community where many people are indigent and uninsured, and the incidence of nearly every major disease is elevated. These services include:

  
Medical
  • Screenings: Blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol, stroke, vision, pregnancy, depression.
  • Health education: topics include cardiovascular, diabetes, cancer, dental hygiene, eye care, nutrition, smoking cessation.
  • Exams: Dental, vision, glaucoma.
  • "Shoo the flu and pneumonia too" immunizations by the Aurora Visiting Nurse Association
  • Foot care
  • Physician Visits for uninsured/underinsured or those who meet established critical screening values
   Non Medical
  • Food pantry
  • Clothing
  • Hygiene items
  • Nutritious meal and opportunities for socialization
  • Prayer and counsel
